LGBT Ireland is a national charitable organisation which provides
support services to Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer and Intersex
(LGBTQI+) people and their families. Informed by the issues and
experiences raised through our frontline services we also provide
training and advocacy to enhance the visibility, inclusion and rights
of LGBTQI+ people living in Ireland.
ABOUT LGBT IRELAND’S TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMME
LGBT Ireland provides a range of training workshops and programmes to
drive LGBTQI+ awareness and inclusion within mainstream public
services, semi-state services, community & voluntary sector
organisations and the corporate sector. Examples include:
➢ _LGBTQI+ Awareness Workshops_: We provide LGBTQI+ awareness
training workshops to a wide range of staff, volunteers, Board
members, and consultants working in services such as healthcare,
social care, residential services, mental health, youth work,
childcare, community services, educational services, sporting
organisations, farming organisation and many more. The training aims
to enhance organisational capacity to understand the need for LGBTQI+
inclusion, whether as staff or service users, as well as confidence
and competence, to become an inclusive workplace and service.
➢ _LGBT Champions Programme:_ We deliver a specialist training
programme and professional network for health and social care
professionals working with older people, to enhance their ability to
respond effectively to the needs of older LGBTQI+ people and to drive
LGBTQI+ inclusion within their own service.
➢ _Corporate EDI, Allyship, Inclusive Workplace Talks & Training_:
We deliver a range of bespoke workshops and webinars to respond to an
increasing demand for corporate capacity-building on EDI as it relates
to LGBTQI+ employees, as well as specific topics like ‘How to be an
Ally’, ‘Building LGBTQI+ Inclusive Workplaces’, ‘Understanding
the Terminology’ and partnering with corporate LGBTQI+ Staff & Ally
Networks.
OVERVIEW OF PURPOSE OF THIS POST: LGBTQI+ EDI TRAINER
This post offers an exciting opportunity to enhance LGBT Ireland’s
capacity to meet the growing demand for LGBTQI+ Awareness Training
across a range of sectors. The post will involve training design and
delivery to the corporate sector, as well as driving the development
of an Online Sectoral Training Hub. The Hub will bring together
innovative tools and blended training programmes, to respond to a
diverse range of training requests and strategic opportunities. The
post holder will be the first point of contact for corporate EDI
training requests and will work with the Senior Training & Advocacy
Manager to establish a timeline for key milestones in developing the
Hub.
This is a full-time role on a fixed term 1-year contract subject to
extension upon successful training fee generation. The post holder
will report directly to the Senior Training & Advocacy Manager.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
* Managing corporate requests for training and other capacity
development inputs.
* Co-designing and delivering a suite of corporate LGBTQI+ EDI talks
and workshops.
* Developing and coordinating a multiagency sectoral group to
oversee the development and rollout of an online Training Hub for
LGBTQI+ awareness training.
* Liaising with the Head of Fundraising to develop and deliver
corporate training packages.
* Presenting, as appropriate, at relevant sectoral conferences,
seminars, and webinars on issues, needs and experiences of the LGBTQI+
community.
* Participating in relevant conferences and seminars to keep abreast
of important new developments, and research and presenting key
learning internally to the staff team
* Evaluating and reporting on training delivered
PERSON SPECIFICATION
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA ARE REQUIRED:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience of delivering training in adult &
community settings or corporate sector settings.
* Demonstrable experience of using engaging, participatory training
methods (in-person and online settings).
* Experience in designing and adapting training material for a
variety of audiences.
* Experience of using blended training and passion to develop
multimedia approaches to learning.
* Strong communication skills; strong listening skills.
* Respectful, non-judgmental, non-confrontational training attitude.
* Strong teamwork experience and skills.
* Strong collaborative experience and skills in coordinating a
multi-agency working group.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
* Strong knowledge of LGBTQI+ issues
* Full, clean driving licence
